Thank you for sharing your views. I especially like being reminded that effective and efficient general health policies for masses is not the same as nuanced personal care per clinicians. Having worked in public school settings and seeing the impact of SNAP one families - even in our county -and understanding that we all, as taxpayers, paying for the care of members in our society, it motivates me to let my elected representatives hear my concerns. I do respect your honest opinion.
Thank you Leigh! When I worked in acute care I definitely saw the role SNAP played in bridging the gap for vulnerable families. My husband has often pointed out that at McDonald’s $5 can buy you a couple thousand calories whereas the same $5 buys very little calories/protein of whole food. Anyway, you prompted me to email my senators. Thank you for this post
Exactly that difference: nutrient-density vs calorie density. Dietitians see the nuanced areas firsthand in acute care settings. Thanks for sharing, Alexandria!
Thank you for taking the time to discuss the differences between public health recommendations and personal health choices. I'm not sure why this has become so confusing. I have been particularly struck by this disconnect with the recent directives from the CDC and HHS about Covid boosters. (Who should get one...who even can get one...)
Thanks also for offering your thoughts on the true costs of the Big Bill. It is risky to candidly offer an opinion in these polarized times...but I hope your readers will appreciate your honesty...and the respectful way it was offered...even if they don't agree.
Thank you. Some readers will certainly disagree, but these are some of the costs of passing this bill. And it will affect Americans’ nutritional quality of life, which is of course, something I care a lot about.
Really well articulated, Leigh.
Thanks, Ann!

Thanks for your input, Carol! These are complex issues that aren’t easily solved.
So well said. 🙌🏻
Thanks, Christa!
Bravo !
Thanks, Jerry.
